Notebookcheck reports that Microsoft is expected to formally launch the Surface Laptop Ultra at its October 7 Surface event, with pre-orders potentially opening the same day and initial shipments beginning in mid-October. The report says every model will use a 15-inch Mini LED display capable of 2,000 nits peak HDR brightness and a haptic trackpad reportedly about 30% larger than the one in the 15-inch Surface Laptop 8.

The RTX Spark configurations are reported as S2 and S3 variants. The S2 combines an 18-core processor with a 5,120-core GPU and 24GB or 32GB of memory, while the S3 is described with 20 CPU cores, 6,144 GPU cores, and 32GB, 48GB, 64GB, or 128GB options. Reported pricing ranges from well above US$2,000 for entry configurations to more than US$7,000 for high-end models, but these are leaks and expectations rather than confirmed retail specifications or independent performance results.

For Canadian buyers, the October 7 event may clarify Canadian pricing, retailer availability, warranty coverage, and shipping. The reported US-dollar ranges cannot be converted directly into a Canadian checkout price because taxes, exchange rates, regional pricing, and retailer margins will matter. Buyers should wait for Microsoft’s final configurations and independent testing of Windows on Arm compatibility, thermals, battery life, local AI, creative software, and gaming before comparing the Surface Laptop Ultra with a MacBook Pro or x86 workstation.
