Microsoft Launches Surface Laptop Ultra, Surface RTX Spark Dev Box

announcementmicrosoftdevices

ServeTheHome reports that Microsoft has formally launched the Surface Laptop Ultra, a developer-focused laptop built around NVIDIA's RTX Spark N1X processor, alongside the desktop Surface RTX Spark Dev Box. The RTX Spark platform brings NVIDIA's GB10-derived Arm CPU and Blackwell graphics into Microsoft's Windows-on-Arm lineup, positioning the new Surface hardware as a local-AI and development alternative to conventional x86 PCs and Apple silicon systems.

The Surface Laptop Ultra is offered with 18-core or 20-core RTX Spark configurations, 24GB to 128GB of LPDDR5X unified memory, and 512GB to 2TB user-upgradable M.2 storage. ServeTheHome lists a 15-inch 3270×2180 120Hz touchscreen, 92Wh battery, Wi-Fi 7, and integrated Blackwell GPU options with 5,120 or 6,144 cores. These specifications describe the product range, not independent evidence of sustained performance, battery life, thermals, software compatibility, or value.

For Canadian buyers, the reported US$2,600 starting price for the Surface Laptop Ultra and the separate Dev Box pricing are not Canadian checkout prices. Taxes, exchange rates, regional configurations, warranty terms, shipping, and local inventory may materially change the total. Microsoft Canada's listing and independent Windows-on-Arm testing should be checked before comparing either system with other RTX Spark devices, x86 workstations, cloud GPUs, or Apple silicon Macs.
