I just tested Nvidia RTX Spark laptops for video editing, gaming and AI — and the MacBook Pro is in trouble

Tom's Guide's Jason England went hands-on with Nvidia's RTX Spark laptops at Computex 2026, and came away convinced that Apple's MacBook Pro dominance is under serious threat. England writes that his daily driver is an M5 MacBook Pro for its "lightning fast performance and power efficiency," paired with a Steam Deck for gaming — a two-device compromise that RTX Spark laptops eliminate entirely by combining all-day Arm efficiency with desktop-class gaming performance.

According to the review, Nvidia worked closely with key creative application developers to ensure significant speed improvements through RTX Spark's on-board GPU. England notes that Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and other creative tools show major performance gains on RTX Spark laptops, matching or exceeding what creative professionals currently get from Apple's MacBook Pro lineup. The crucial MacBook Pro advantage in creative workflows is "no longer limited to Apple's notebooks."

On the gaming front, England highlights RTX Spark's DLSS 4.5 with Multi-Frame Generation as the decisive advantage over any MacBook. "This is the main weakness of any MacBook," he writes, and "none of it compares to a DLSS-armed RTX Spark system." The review concludes that Nvidia has delivered RTX Spark laptops that are "seriously good," offering a genuine alternative for professionals who need both creative performance and gaming capability in a single portable device.
