ASUS ProArt RTX Spark Debut: Thinner, Lighter, 128GB, But CUDA AI Unverified

announcementasusailaptops

Tech Times reports that ASUS has unveiled the ProArt P16 and P14 laptops and the compact ProArt GR1X mini PC at its IFA 2026 showroom. The systems use NVIDIA's RTX Spark platform, combining a Blackwell GPU with a Grace CPU and up to 128GB of unified LPDDR5X memory. ASUS is positioning the lineup for local AI, creative work, and gaming, with the P16 measuring 12.9 mm thick and weighing 1.77 kg, while the P14 weighs 1.48 kg and is 13.9 mm thick.

The report's central caution is that CUDA-based AI performance has not yet been independently verified on shipping RTX Spark hardware. Tech Times notes that a pre-production Surface Laptop Ultra using the same underlying silicon failed to complete CUDA workloads on two pre-release driver versions, forcing tests onto slower CPU or Vulkan Compute paths. That does not establish the final retail outcome, because driver and software support can change before launch, but it means ASUS demonstrations of MuseTree, StoryCube, and other local-AI workflows should be treated as manufacturer or controlled-demo claims until independent retail testing is available.

For Canadian creators and developers, the ProArt lineup offers an unusually large memory pool in thin Windows laptops and a compact desktop, but the practical value will depend on CUDA support, sustained thermals, battery life, software compatibility, and final configurations. ASUS has not confirmed Canadian pricing, retailer availability, or a specific release date. Buyers should wait for local listings and independent reviews before treating the 128GB headline or estimated premium pricing as a complete purchasing case.
